Why is ED&I important to The London Borough of Waltham Forest Council
Diversity and Inclusion are key to the Council’s Values and Vision. By respecting, celebrating and investing in the diversity of its workforce, the Council will progress work towards a racially equitable culture which supports its strong endeavour to be a future Employer of Choice.
Becoming a signatory of the Change the Race Ratio demonstrates the Council’s commitment to creating a workplace where diversity and inclusion is a priority at all levels. This sends out a powerful message to employees who want to see both diverse representation at senior leadership level and impactful interventions that support succession planning and talent development.
Why The London Borough of Waltham Forest Council signed Change the Race Ratio
Waltham Forest became the first local authority to sign the Change the Race Ratio pledge in May 2022, solidifying their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Councillor Vicky Ashworth, Cabinet Member for Equality and Diversity at Waltham Forest Council, said: “By signing the Change the Race Ratio pledge we are strengthening our commitment to improving racial and ethnic diversity in senior leadership, continuing to tackle our ethnicity and gender pay gaps and creating a truly inclusive culture where our differences are celebrated.”
