The Centre for Synchronous Leadership (CSL) is a leadership think tank, consultancy, and membership organisation focused on systemic chang in the corporate sector and beyond. The Centre was founded by Managing Director Justine Lutterodt in 2010.
As a think tank, CSL is best known for its Mindful Exclusion research, which examines the systemic patterns and psychological factors impacting organisational governance and belonging, and identifies effective strategies for driving change.
Most recently, the 2021 Mindful Exclusion Report, published in partnership with The Chartered Governance Institute, was based on a study of over 300 board and executive committee members. The results highlight common blind spots that impede governance, and provide evidence that the effective boardrooms place a greater value on racial diversity. A follow-up report with fresh survey data and insights will be coming out in Autumn 2022.
As a leadership consultancy, CSL helps diverse cohorts of business leaders manifest their values in the workplace through the Walk the Tightrope Leadership Programme and the A Step Ahead seminar series. CSL also facilitates larger scale organisational interventions in relation to culture, strategy, and diversity, equity & inclusion.
As a membership community, CSL has been gathering and convening corporate changemakers from diverse backgrounds as a force for good since 2010.
CSL has been at the forefront of racial equality since 2010 - as founder of Africa Women's Circle, founding member of The Multicultural Network of Networks, and creator of the series What Black Lives Matter means for the Future of Corporate Leadership. CSL has also played a key role in supporting numerous awards celebrating racial diversity - serving as Chair of Judging for the Diversity Legal Awards, as Judge for Precious Awards, and former Judge for the Black British Business Awards and The Asian Professional Awards.
